Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about our BYOD program? Here’s what you need to know before you enroll.

Why do I need to sign this agreement?

If you’re using a personal device for work, this agreement documents your consent to have the security and management tools required by your company’s IT compliance program installed on that device. It also spells out your rights as the device owner so there are no surprises.

A small set of tools: a monitoring agent, endpoint protection (antivirus/threat detection), patch management, mobile device management (MDM), DNS/web filtering, and periodic security awareness prompts. These are the same tools used on company-owned devices.

No. Monitoring is scoped to device health, security status, and work-related activity. Personal files, photos, and non-work applications are not targeted or accessible.

No — remote access sessions require your consent and will be visible to you. The only exception is an active security incident (such as a confirmed malware infection or data breach), where immediate action may be necessary.

No. Only company data — email, files, and credentials associated with your work account — can be remotely wiped, and only in the event of device loss, theft, termination, or a security incident. Your personal data is not affected.

All company-managed profiles, agents, and software will be cleanly removed from your device. Your personal data stays intact. You’ll also be asked to delete any locally stored company or client data and confirm that in writing as part of offboarding.

This is an opt-in program. However, if you’re accessing company systems on a personal device, enrollment is required to maintain compliance. If you prefer not to enroll, the alternative is to use a company-provided device.
